ABOUT US

A Brief History of Ardkeeran National School.

Ardkeeran National School was built in 1903 and dedicated to Saint Mathona. Saint Mathona was a holy woman, chosen by Saint Patrick to take charge of a church in Tawnagh, which is situated in the locality of Riverstown.
Originally, Ardkeeran N.S. was set up as a two teacher school. However, the population growth in the Riverstown area in recent years led to the construction of three additional classrooms.

As well as Ardkeeran National School, Riverstown has many other attractions. Sligo Folk Park is located in the town. Here visitors can get an insight rural and Irish heritage. Visitors of all ages will thoroughly enjoy this experience and enjoy a warm welcome.
